Created in 1992 and comprising about fifty students, the High-level Sports section (SHN) of INSA-Rennes is as flexible as possible when it comes to combining studies with training and competitions.
At INSA-Rennes, the admission procedure for SHN students is the same as for any other engineering student. This section receives applications from sportsmen and sportswomen registered on the national lists of the Ministry for Youth and Sports, as well as from national-level sportspeople who wish to acquire an Engineering diploma without compromising competition schedules. The management and the technical training aspects are handled by the appropriate sports clubs.
SHN students may complete the first cycle (years 1 & 2) in three years rather than two if they so choose. This also applies to years 3 and 4 of the second cycle. Furthermore, timetables are arranged to suit the needs of each SHN student.
-
A study agreement is drawn up between the student, INSA-Rennes and the host club to reconcile sports training and academic studies.
-
Assessment methods may be adapted.
-
The student's course of studies may be altered to facilitate special arrangements.
-
A tutorial system makes it possible to resolve particular difficulties.
-
The progress of each SHN student is followed carefully by the Head of the SHN section and the physical education instructor.
