New entrants receive their registration file at the end of July or beginning of August. This must be returned to the Training Department of INSA-Rennes by 31st August.
The following administrative steps are carried out on the first day of term :

Payment of registration fees to the Accountant (cheque or bank card)

Creation of application file for residence permit for foreign students

Drawing up of the newcomer's student card

Allocation of a room in the INSA residence on campus.
A freshers’ reception weekend is also organised at the beginning of term.
For engineering students who are not grant-holders, the registration fees and social security charges must be paid on the first day of university term.
Fees for 2009/2010 are as follows :

Registration as engineering student : € 550

Registration for Research Master : € 231

Registration for DOCTORATE : € 350
-
Social security : € 198
-
Preventive medicine : € 4.57 (also to be paid by grant holders)
All students registered at INSA-Rennes receive a student card upon arrival. This card will be useful throughout the course of their studies but must be validated at the beginning of each university term. It serves as a multifunctional smart-card for the purposes of paying at the restaurant, borrowing from the library and accessing the Multi-media Centre (Internet terminal).
