The main objective of the Music-with-Studies section of INSA-Rennes is to encourage relations via a common interest in music. Created in September 2002, this option allows musically talented students to continue music training in parallel with their engineering studies. This section offers successful applicants top-quality continuity in their music studies and the opportunity to perform in public during the year.
This section is accessible to students with at least five years of music-studies experience recent to enrolment. At the beginning of the academic year, candidates for the Music-with-Studies section are auditioned by teachers from the Region's National Conservatory (CNR) along with the Head of the section. Successful candidates are then registered for a two-year cycle of studies. Recruitment, however, is usually limited to the first three years of the engineering degree course.
Lessons are organized in small groups and are given by teachers from the Region's National Conservatory.
Three classifications:
-
Classical music
-
Modern music
-
Breton traditional music
The students of the Music-with-Studies section organise a programme of musical events on campus and beyond (e.g. concert of Breton traditional music at the ENSA in Oujda, Morocco).
